Recycling is a great idea in theory, but unfortunately, our systems are a bit outdated and most of the items we think we recycle still end up in landfills.
This is where companies like Goodwood Plastic Products Ltd come in. Roughly 80% of the plastic recyclables collected throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia are now being processed by GPP and turned into building blocks.
The plastic lumber can be drilled, nailed, glued, and handled the same way as wooden lumber. What’s even better is the plastic blocks are more durable and don’t deteriorate as traditional wood does.
The 50 employee company has already recycled over 5,000,000 plastic bags and over 700 tons of combined waste.
Changing our perspective on plastics and the way we manage them is the key to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
