Call it a little bit of a silver lining.

In Italy, animals have begun to venture back into areas where they haven’t been seen in decades.

Swans and fish have been seen swimming in the canals of Venice, where the water has cleared significantly without boat traffic.

Dolphins were spotted playing in the normally busy port waters of Cagliari, Sardinia.

There were even some boars spotted taking a walk down a normally busy road, although they are admittedly not very rare to find in some Italian cities.

These reappearances are not necessarily due to cleaner water and air, but more so a lack of human activity and noise.

Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of silence and stillness to realize just how closely we share our space with the rest of the planet.

Has anyone noticed animals they don’t normally see out and about? Share them with us by replying to this email!
