Toys for Tots is a non-profit that normally provides toys for families in the U.S. around the winter holidays.
This year, however, the organization has decided that the world needs a little holiday cheer a few months early.
With families under stay-at-home orders, the program, run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, said it will start to distribute two million items across the country starting as soon as possible.
With travel and typical shipping methods heavily limited, the organization has joined up with Virginia based charity Good360 to create a distribution network of non-profits around the country, effectively replacing the need for reindeer and elves.
The gift-giving team hopes to provide relief, hope, and a morale boost to families across the country during this difficult time.
Corporations including Hasbro, Lego, Disney, Funko, Five Below and Build-A-Bear have donated hundreds of thousands of products to the cause.
