Residents of Warsaw, Poland are breathing a little easier these days thanks to a new art installation that purifies the air.

The above mural is a part of Converse’s City Forests-Campaign. It was painted by Polish artists Dawid Ryski and Maciek Polak

So, how does it work?

The paint used contains special chemicals that capture airborne pollutants and turn them into harmless nitrates. You can learn all about it here

It gets better: the entire process is powered by the sun.

Environmentally functional art. That’s what we’re talkin’ about!

According to Converse, the mural has the purification power of 780 trees. Their goal is to paint enough artwork to account for over 3,000 trees.

The project’s next sites include the cities of Sydney, Sao Paolo, Lima, Bogota, and more!
