Skills are the least important thing to hire for.
Yes, if you’re looking for a video editor, you should hire a video editor, and that should be a baseline for hiring. But, Ray explains, there are 3 things everyone brings you – values, abilities and skills. Skills are actually the least important.
Why?
Because, if your values aren’t aligned, how are you going to be around each other?
Your abilities should be in line with what you’re looking for on your team. For example, if you’re the creative type, then you may want to hire someone who is more reliable. Each person has their natural abilities and you’ll need to hire accordingly.
Lastly, you’ll want to account for skills.
