This recipe is simple and chic. Literally and figuratively.
We use a store-bought hummus base for this avocado toast because it saves steps, adds flavor and texture.
Use one ripe avocado for two slices of toast.
Avocado needs to be soft to the touch. The avocado is ripe if you worry about breaking the skin when you squeeze it. A two-year-old should be able to dent a ripe avocado with their hand.
Start by toasting the bread.
Then scoop the avocado into a bowl, tossing the seed unless you plan on keeping leftovers. The seed helps leftover avocado keep fresh.
Add two tsp of salt and one tsp of pepper.
Squeeze half a lemon and cut the other half into wedges. Set aside the wedges.
Use a fork and mash the ingredients together.
Layer the toasted bread with hummus.
Dollop on the avocado on top of the hummus. Store-bought hummus already has the tasty seasonings included that typical guacamole calls for.
Serve the Chic Avocado Toast with a side of lemon wedges.
Enjoy!
