You’ve probably heard by now that Seattle has a new hockey team named the Kraken (pretty freakin’ awesome, right?)
What you might have missed is that they will be donating 100% of sales from their new merch towards ending youth homelessness and creating opportunities for BIPOC youth in local communities.
The Kraken have partnered with YouthCare and several other non-profits serving Black, Indigenous and People of Color in the Greater Seattle region.
Nealy half of Seattle’s homeless population is under the age of 25 and Black communities are disproportionately affected.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the challenges facing YouthCare and the young adults they serve and has also disproportionately impacted BIPOC youth and families,” said Mari Horita, vice president of community engagement and social impact for the Kraken.
“Our team wants to help provide support and be part of building a better future together. We encourage our fans to join us.”
The donations will continue through August 21st. Head over to the Kraken website to grab some fresh gear that supports a great cause.
And of course, share this with a hockey fan!
