Alternate Nostril Breathing 5min

This exercise soothes your nerves and calms your thinking. This will slow down your heart rate and lower blood pressure. 

 

The benefits of this exercise get better and better with time. Because it brings balance to our nervous system and reduces our stress response. 

 

It’s a 5 minute exercise that can be practiced any time of the day. Sitting upright with your spine alert or laying on your back with your head slightly propped on a pillow. 

 

You want your spine to be as straight as possible.

Here’s how to practice:

Using your thumb on your right hand, block your right nostril. 

 

Inhale 4 seconds through your left nostril. 

 

Using your pointer finger & thumb block both nostrils. Hold for 4 seconds. 

 

Release your thumb from your right nostril and exhale for 4 seconds. 

 

Block both nostrils at the bottom of your exhale and hold for 4 seconds. 

 

Release your pointer finger from your left nostril and begin again.
