We’re celebrating Funk Friday with Industry approved Cocktail Recipes. You’ll be able to concoct these cocktails with a minimum of household ingredients and effort.

We’re featuring Hot Toddies if you’re feeling chilly or Island Spritzers if you’re feeling hot. Either way, you’re going to make bar quality cocktail(s) at a supermarket price.

We’ll list all the alcohol as optional and provide you with a tasty non-alcoholic alternative. Your decision 😉

Check em out:

The Paloma-Stay-At-Homa (one serving)

  • Full glass of ice
  • 4.5oz Grapefruit juice
  • 2 lime wedges
  • ½ can of soda water or sparkling water
  • Kosher salt
  • 1.5 oz. of tequila (optional)

Start by running a lime wedge along the rim of a glass. Sprinkle kosher salt (the big chunky stuff) on a plate and roll the rim over the salt for a coated rim.

Next, fill your glass to the top with ice, squeeze the lime wedges over the ice and drop into the glass, add 1.5oz. of tequila and 4.5oz. of Grapefruit juice. Top with Seltzer or soda water.

Editor’s note: Depending on the size of your glass, you typically want a 1 to 3 spirit to mixer ratio. 1 oz of spirit for every 3 ounces of mixer. This will make a strong cocktail and still capture the Industry quality. If you want it stronger, we recommend a side car of the spirit served neat. Catch the buzz without compromising the flavor 😉

The Social-Distance-Spritz (one serving)

  • Wine glass
  • Extra glass
  • ½ cup Strawberries. fresh or frozen
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 lemon wedges
  • ½ can sparkling water or soda water
  • 1.5 oz of Vodka, or unaged rum (for non-alcoholic, use lemonade)

Fill a cup halfway with strawberries and add your spirit. Let sit for at least 10 minutes. If you’re making multiple cocktails, add extra spirit now and store in the refrigerator for later use. The spirit will absorb the strawberry flavor and give it a vibrant pinkish red color.

Next, fill a wine glass with ice. Sprinkle in a pinch of salt. Squeeze one lemon wedge over the ice. Discard the peel. Strain your strawberry infused spirit (or lemonade) over the ice.

Top with sparkling water until glass is full and gently stir. Garnish with the remaining lemon wedge.

The Hot Quaran-Tea

  • 4-6 oz. steeped chai or black tea
  • Spoonful of honey
  • 2 lemon wedges
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1.5 oz. spiced rum, bourbon, rye, or scotch (for non-alcoholic, use apple juice)

Start by dolloping a spoonful of honey into a mug. Let the sticky spoon sit in the mug. Add your spirit (or apple juice), Squeeze one lemon wedge.

Next, fill the mug with steeped tea. Stir with the honey spoon. Garnish with a lemon wedge and a dash of cinnamon.

Flattening the Curve Collins

  • Full glass of ice
  • 1 Lemon
  • Sugar
  • Small stove top pan
  • Cucumber
  • ½ can of seltzer or soda water
  • 1.5 oz of gin (non-alcoholic, use lemonade)

Pour gin (or lemonade) over peeled, sliced and washed cucumbers in a glass. Let sit for at least 10 minutes.

Simple syrup: Start by combining ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of water on the stove. Slowly heat until the sugar completely dissolves. Set aside to cool.

Squeeze half the lemon and set aside. De-seed the juice.

Fill a glass to the top with ice. Add half squeezed lemon, 1oz of simple syrup, cucumber gin, and top with seltzer. Garnish with Cucumber wedge.

As always, if you want some clarification on these cocktails, just reply to this email. We recommend a glass of water between each drink. Alcohol promotes dehydration. And dehydration causes your hangover symptoms. So water it up. Just sayin’.
