Finally, some good news regarding the spread of Covid-19!

A team of scientists from China released this study late last week. Using CDC data combined with a boatload of statistical analysis and modeling, growth curves, weather station data, and contact tracing — they came to the following conclusion:

“High temperature and high relative humidity significantly reduce the transmission of COVID-19, respectively, even after controlling for population density and GDP per capita of cities. […]

This result is consistent with the fact that the high temperature and high humidity significantly reduce the transmission of influenza. It indicates that the arrival of summer and rainy season in the northern hemisphere can effectively reduce the transmission of the COVID-19.”

It’s important here to note the word “indicates.” Summer arriving and slowing the spread is not a guarantee.

That being said, this data looks promising and further research is being conducted as we speak.
