Vipassana meditation is an observation-based technique that focuses on your connection between mind and body.
Sounds, feelings, thoughts, all arise in your consciousness whether you create them or not. You can’t prevent yourself from hearing, feeling, or thinking something. But you can observe it.
This technique trains your state of awareness – helping you concentrate on what is right in front of you.
Here’s a basic technique for a Vipassana Meditation:
STEP 1: Sit in a comfortable, upright position
STEP 2: Set a timer for 5 minutes
STEP 3: Begin by focusing your attention on your breath. Then become aware of sights, sounds, sensations
STEP 4: As thoughts come into your head, observe them, and bring your attention back to your breath, sights, sounds and sensations
Taking just 5 minutes to work on this technique can help you make progress toward a more calm, aware state of being.
