After the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl on Sunday night, quarterback Patrick Mahomes became the youngest QB in Super Bowl history to be named MVP.
Clearly this guy is doing something right.
During his post game interview, Mahomes dropped one giant knowledge bomb in just a few words.
“I just try to be the best Patrick Mahomes I can be.”
That simple sentence is a major core element to an idea that is taught by psychologists everywhere; the principal of emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify, understand, and manage emotions; making emotions for you, instead of against you.
When we compare ourselves to others, feelings of discouragement, jealousy, and dissatisfaction begin to cloud our perception. Focusing inward and being the best version of yourself everyday will put you on the fast track to success and happiness.
And maybe even a Superbowl ring, if that’s your goal.
Congrats to Pat and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs.
