One of the easiest and most effective ways to lower stress is to pay closer attention to what we put into our bodies.

Our diet directly affects how we feel and with a little bit of information and attention, we can have better control over our mindset.

First, let’s talk about water

We know that dehydration nearly 80% of adults don’t drink enough water. Aside from the physical complications of dehydration, we are learning that proper hydration is also necessary for our brain function.

Aside from impairing cognitive function, dehydration has also been linked to increased stress. When we are even a little dehydrated, cortisol levels spike in the body. Cortisol is known as the body’s “stress hormone.”

Now, let’s talk about food

We know that a proper diet can counter the impacts of stress by strengthening the immune system, stabilizing mood, and reducing blood pressure.

But you can even take it a step further. There are many nutritious (and delicious) foods that have been proven to work with the body to lower stress, reduce anxiety, and boost our mood.

We put together a list of 5 foods that help relieve stress. Some of them might surprise you 😉.
