Often times when we are in fight or flight mode we’re told to “take a deep breath.”

Scientifically speaking, it’s actually the exhale, not the inhale, that calms us down. 

Extending the exhale of your breath activates the Parasympathetic Nervous System, signalling the body that there is no danger and it’s time to calm down.
